J.R. Heckman is a multi award-winning American singer and actor, originally from Cleveland, Ohio. A graduate of the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts, he holds a BFA in Musical Theatre and Screen Acting with a minor in Producing.

J.R. has produced 2 benefit concerts for Josh Groban’s Find Your Light Foundation for underserved arts education. He was a National Jimmy Award Finalist and three-time nominee in addition to being a three-time Cleveland Playhouse Square Dazzle Award Recipient for Best Actor. J.R. has performed solo shows at celebrated New York venues including Broadway’s 54 Below and The Green Room 42. Additionally, he served as the Directing Assistant for the Jimmy Awards for three years.

J.R. won MCC Theater’s MISCASTME vocal competition and has assisted on the Broadway productions of The Fear of 13, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, Chess, Waiting for Godot, ART, SMASH, Sunset Blvd., Cabaret at The Kit Kat Club, An Enemy of the People, Othello, and Suffs. His latest live album, Timeless—a tribute to the American songbook—is available on all platforms and was featured in Billboard Magazine’s Grammy Contender and First Look editions. He is a proud member of Actors’ Equity and SAG-AFTRA.
